Valery Mishin
Born in Simferopol, USSR in 1939.
Graduated in 1962 from the Sverdlovsk College of Art, where he studied under Pavel Khozhatelev, and in 1968 from the painting department of the Mukhina Higher College of Industrial Design in Leningrad, where he studied under Gleb Savinov.
Painter, graphic artist and illustrator. Member of the Artists’ Union of Russia since 1979. Invented the ReRe (‘residual realism’) technique of flat printing; his experiments have revived interest in rare printing techniques. Has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
His works can be found in the collections of the State Hermitage, State Russian Museum, Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Alexander Pushkin Museum (St Petersburg), Museum of the History of St Petersburg, Museum of Urban Sculpture in St Petersburg, Peterhof Museum-Preserve, Museum of Non-Conformist Art, Mikhailovskoye Museum, Kaliningrad State Art Gallery, the National Museum of Playing Cards in Belgium and other museums in Europe and the USA, as well as in private collections in Russia, Australia, Germany, France, Japan and other countries.
